Greetings, Prince William - Carried to Full Term, a nonprofit which provides long term housing for women who are pregnant and homeless is holding a Breaking Cycles Women's Conference March 25 at the George Mason campus in Manassas, Verizon Auditorium. Volunteers age 13+ are needed beginning at 6am to help with registration, directing and ushering guests. Volunteers are asked to please wear business casual attire. - Please join the staff at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre April 8, 10am-12:30pm for a Spring Clean-Up Day at the Williams-Dawe House! This opportunity is available for volunteers age 13+ and promises to be a fun and rewarding day of work at the Office of Historic Preservation's newest historic property. Projects will include litter pick-up, raking up plant debris, and clearing stones. Wear sturdy work shoes, bring gloves, and remember sunscreen. Tools and snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Please, no pets. - Mark your calendars! City of Manassas Park Community Services is holding a Community Day April 22, 10am-2pm at Manassas Park City Hall, 100 Park Central Plaza, Manassas Park! They need lots of volunteers age 18+ beginning at 8am. Duties include set up, welcome table, water table, support various vendor tables, parking, children's activities and clean up. While bilingual skills in Spanish are not required, they are welcome and helpful in supporting this event. Event will be held rain or shine (moved to Manassas Park High School in case of rain). This promises to be a fun-filled day and you'll feel great as you share the resources and services Manassas Park offers its residents! Please email i.monney@manassasparkva.gov for more information.
- Haul out your brooms and dustrags! Historic Dumfries also needs someone age 18+ to help clean The Weems-Botts Museum! This unique opportunity gives participants a chance to work within the historic house as they carefully vacuum, clean, and help maintain a safe and dust-free setting for their beautiful community collections. The Executive Director will work with participants and will provide training along with all needed materials. - Attention Feline Fans! Last Chance Animal Rescue needs cat-loving volunteers to help with cat and kitten care and adoptions in the Manassas PetSmart, 10834 Sudley Manor Drive. Volunteers age 14+ welcome, volunteers between ages 14-17 must volunteer with a responsible adult. Duties include loving on the kitties, playing with and socializing them, feeding, and light cleaning including litter box scooping. Volunteers would also help with greeting potential adopters, introducing them to the kitty guests, and processing adoptions. Training and orientation is provided. Be prepared to commit to one or more shifts (AM or PM) per week; hours are available weekdays and weekends. You'll purr with delight knowing that you're helping to care for cats from high kill shelters and place them in loving homes! - Prince William Conservation Alliance needs garden-loving volunteers to help prepare the Merrimac Farm wildlife garden for the upcoming Bluebell Festival, as well as the growing season. The garden is located at Merrimac Farm WMA, 15014 Deepwood Lane, Nokesville 20181. Volunteers are needed this Saturday, March 25 and again Saturday, April 2, 9am-1pm each day. Duties include pulling weeds, mulching and any other garden related tasks. Volunteers age 18+ welcome, volunteers under 18 are also welcome, but must volunteer with a responsible adult. You'll enjoy being out among the flowers and plants as you help this wonderful agency prepare for the upcoming Bluebell Festival April 8! The wonderful staff at Prince William Conservation Alliance is holding their annual Bluebell Festival April 8 at Merrimac Farm WMA, 15014 Deepwood Lane, Nokesville 20181 and they need volunteers age 18+ to make this a successful event! Volunteers are needed Friday, April 7 to help with setting up, 10am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-3pm. Volunteers are also needed on Saturday, April 8 at 8:30am to help finish setting up, then jobs during the event such as Trail Volunteer, Roaming Volunteer, Tour Announcer, Parking Volunteer, Bake Sale and Roaming Volunteer are available. Shifts during the event are 10am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-3pm. Volunteers are also needed 3pm-4pm to help with cleanup following the event. You'll love being out in the fresh air, enjoying all the beautiful flowers and helping festival visitors do the same! Credit for service hours is available!
