Greetings, Prince William - Update: The Trail and Outdoor Classroom Repair project at Dale City Elementary School originally scheduled for April 29 has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 13 due to weather this past weekend. All other details of the event remain unchanged, volunteers are still welcome!
Volunteers with muscles needed! The wonderful staff at Keep Prince William Beautiful needs volunteers age 16+ to help with a Trail and Outdoor Classroom Repair project at Dale City Elementary School, 14450 Brook Drive Woodbridge 22193. Since clearing the trail and installing the classrooms will require more than one day, they need volunteers for multiple projects; the first one will be held May 13, 9am-2pm. Duties on this date will involve clearing the trail and removing vegetation around the areas of the outdoor classrooms. Please be prepared to bring your own tools. For safety reasons volunteers under 18 should volunteer with an adult. You'll feel great as you help this school restore its trails and outdoor classrooms! - Get out in the fresh air and help Leopold's Preserve! They need volunteers of all ages to help tidy up some of their trails on May 6, 8:30am-11am. Jobs include trimming overhanging vegetation, widening narrow sections of trail, and removing stones, fallen branches, or other obstacles on trail surfaces. Bring a pair of work gloves and some water to drink, they'll happily supply the other equipment. - Walk MS: Manassas is back! The walk will be held May 6 at Harris Pavilion in Old Town Manassas, and they need LOTS of volunteer helpers of all ages! Duties include set up, photographer, mission tent, cheering the walkers, break down/clean up and more! You'll feel great as you get outdoors with your family and friends to support the goal of a world free of MS! - The date has been set! The awesome folks at Habitat for Humanity Prince William County are hosting a Women's Day Build on May 6, 9am-6pm! The project is to be announced, but ladies, get those hammers, saws and nails ready to do some good work benefiting vulnerable families in the community! - You can support mental health awareness! Volunteers age 18+ are needed for the 3rd Annual One Prince William 5K Walk for Mental Health Awareness, May 13, 8am-2pm at Locust Shade Park, 4701 Locust Shade Drive in Triangle. - Does your teen need service hours? Sweet Julia Grace Foundation is holding an Adult Field Day May 20 at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run, 16015 John Marshall Hwy, Broad Run 20137 and they need LOTS of volunteers age 12+ to support this event. Everyone is welcome, whether individual, group, club or office! Shifts are available on May 19 & 20; you'll love supporting this event which will raise funds for children who are facing serious illness, special needs or currently going through a medical crisis. - Girls on the Run of NOVA needs volunteers age 16+ to support their season ending 5K Celebrations May 20 and 21. Events will be held at Fair Oaks Mall, 12000 Fair Oaks Mall, Fair Oaks 22033 on May 20 and BASIS Independent School, 8000 Jones Branch Drive, McLean 22102 on May 21. Roles include Registration Support, Water Stop, Cheer Marshals, Corral Marshals, Start Finish Line Volunteers, etc. Volunteers are also needed during packet pick up events that will be held the week before the celebrations. You'll feel great as you support and cheer on these young runners who have been working hard on their fitness this season! - Mark your calendar! Jenkins Donelson Foundation is holding a Get Healthy Fauquier Shoe Giveaway & Health Fair on May 20, 8am-5pm at Remington United Methodist Church, 150 W. Bowen Street, Remington 22734. Volunteers age 12+ are needed to help set up, assist with handing out free shoes, assist with health fair presentations and games and help clean up once the event is finished.
