Good Morning Prince William - Christmas in July Festival is Saturday July 20th, 3pm-10pm on Main street Manassas.  This fun family day is sponsored by the Philadelphia Tavern and Sinistral Brewing to support the Un-Trim-A-Tree Holiday Gift Program for needy kids in our community.  Please come join the free fun with music, auction items, Santa Claus and food.  Volunteers age 21 + are also needed to pour beer.  Two shifts available- 3-6:30pm and 6:30-10pm.  Please email Mary if you can help at: mfoley@volunteerprincewilliam.org.

  • Community Services needs a volunteer to help them for a couple of days to clean out and organize file cabinets at their Manassas location. Please call Angie at (703) 792-7737 to learn more and schedule.
  • Food for Others needs volunteers to pick fresh fruit and vegetables at the Hollin Farm to distribute to families in need.  They work every Sunday starting July 14th through October 20th.  Please register at: signup.com/go/tg/PaNnJ.
  • Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District need volunteers at a host of fun projects this summer including:   August 3rd at Broad Run/Dawkins Branch.  Please RSVP to Sonnie at 1vespermaxo@gmail.com or via text to: 7032166959. August 10th at Manassas National Battlefield for the NOVA Water Quality Monitors Certification Training.  Come learn how to be Certified Stream Monitor.  Please email Veronica to register and learn more at: waterquality@pwswcd.org.
  • The David J. Cobb Foundation provides back to school supplies to kids at Yorkshire Elementary School.  Volunteers are needed bake goodies for their Bake Sale on July 20th in Occoquan or to sell baked goods and drinks. They need 50 brownies, 100 chocolate chip cookies, 100 bottles of water, 200 cups of lemonade 100 oatmeal cookies and 100 other of your favorite cookies.  Please email Kimberly at Kimberly.fleming@djcfoundation.org id you can help.

 

  • The Kennedy Center needs volunteers for their new ART tour greeter position. You will be the front of the house greeter for all the concert halls and theaters. You need to be physically fit to open doors, stand in one location or go up and down stairs. Training will be provided. Please email them at: vols@kenedy-center.org to learn more.
  • Save the Date of September 8th to Walk to Fight Suicide in Manassas. Please register at afsp.org/Manassas.
  • Girls on the Run Northern Virginia is looking for volunteer coaches for the Fall 2019 season. You will be trained to facilitate the easy to follow curriculum with small groups of girls in grades 3-8, twice a week for 10 weeks. The program runs from September 23rd-November 24th to inspire girls to be strong, confident and healthy.  Please email Meagan to learn more at: mperkins@gotrnova.org.
  • The Virginia Cooperative Extension is looking for volunteers to teach their Master Financial Educator programs. You'll learn all kinds of financial management skills for yourself to teach other. Please register at: bit.ly/mfevinfo or to learn more email them at: smartmoney@pwcgov.org.
  • Walk to End Alzheimer's is Saturday October 19th in Manassas. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, clean up, refreshments, advocacy, rout monitoring or the finish line brigade.  Gather your friends and families to join in the event.   • The NOVA Veterans Association needs a volunteer to drive a Manassas veteran to his weekly gathering of friends at a local Manassas restaurant on Liberia Ave. These wonderful folks call this a quality of life appointment and so deserving!   • The Independence Empowerment Center is hosting their Annual ADA Fair on Saturday July 27th at the Harris Pavilion in Old Town Manassas to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act.  Come learn about all the resources for individuals and families.  And it's free!
  • Youth for Tomorrow is looking for volunteers age 21+ who can share their hobby with a teen on the weekends. Help bring joy to a teen's life with your hobby such as sewing, photography, cross stitch, painting, arts, sign language, song, dance, cooking would be very welcome.  Please visit their website to register at: youthfortomorrow.org.

 

  • BEACON for Adult Literacy is gearing up for the fall semester and is looking for tutors to work with small groups. No second language or teaching experience needed.  The fall semester starts August 26th with volunteer training on either August 3rd or 17th from 8:30-2:30.   • The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is looking for volunteers' age 55+ to deliver noon meals through the Meals on Wheels Program.  Shifts are just 2-3 hours and available in throughout the greater area.  RSVP members receive a mileage reimbursement and additional insurance coverage at no cost to the volunteer.  Please call Jan at (571) 292-5307 to learn more.
