Who We Are

Our community is interested in improving their credit, reducing their debt, learning the best tactics and tools for saving and working to become First-Time Homebuyers.  We offer research-based information as we are affiliated with Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Llamar en Espanol. We have two full-time and 1 part-time bilingual English/Spanish HUD certified housing and financial counselors on staff ready to answer your rental, homeowner, or financial questions. We are available to assist as you prepare to purchase a home, or for those who need mortgage delinquency assistance.

Our volunteers help us lead seminars in better money management with monthly workshops in personal finance, understanding and improving credit, reducing debt, smart money management and first-time homebuyer education seminars.

HUD Certified Counselors and coaches participate in an individual financial assessment for clients who want to better manage their personal finances.  We encourage volunteers to participate in our Master Financial Educator Certification program.  The MFEV certificate is required for any volunteer working directly with clients.

To become an MFEV, see our website for flyer and details.  MFEV More Info & Registration

What We Do

Virginia Cooperative Extension: Education Makes a Difference!
Virginia Cooperative Extension is the cooperation of local, state and federal governments in partnership with tens of thousands of citizens.  With the help of the Extension Leadership Council, local extension offices design, implement and evaluate Cooperative Extension's programs. Our programs strengthen families and help protect the environment. Program content is based on the research conducted at the state's two land-grant universities in Virginia: Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. Educational programs are designed to:
  • Enable families to better manage resources;
  • Help youth become self-directing, contributing and productive members of society;
  • Improve the impact of urban horticulture on the environment.

Virginia Cooperative Extension Prince William is an approved Local Housing Counseling Agency through the Office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). VCE's Financial Education and Housing Counseling Program is affiliated with the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) and the Prince William County Office of Housing and Community Development. VCE's Financial Education and Housing Counseling Program formally adopted the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling.
