Greetings, Prince William: Historic Manassas, Inc.'s First Friday SOUPer Bowl is February 7 in Old Town Manassas, and they could still use some SOUPerHero Volunteers age 16+ to support this popular event! Volunteers under 16 can also help and are welcome to volunteer with an adult over 18. This should be loads of fun and will be a wonderful lead-up to Super Bowl LIX on February 9! · "Andrew" was lonely, isolated, and worried about his medical appointments since he could no longer drive. Thanks to Volunteer Prince William's VETS program, Andrew gets a ride to his appointments and has made new friends among the volunteers. He can live independently in his own home and doesn't have to ask family for rides. You can be a part of this program as a Volunteer Driver, taking veterans and their spouse/widow to medical appointments, supermarkets, etc.! Schedules are flexible, mileage reimbursement is provided, and you'll feel great as you provide a ride, a friendly face and help this population meet their needs! · Brain Injury Services (BIS) has an ongoing need for volunteers to be PALS (Providing a Link for Survivors) for survivors of brain injury. This is a one-to-one friendship program for brain injury survivors; the program connects BIS clients with volunteers who can help them socialize in the community and rebuild social skills through friendship. Once a month outings for coffee, walks, chess, lunch, etc. can help a client get their life back on track following such a traumatic occurrence! · The recent snowstorm caught many of us off-guard, and the good folks at CRi want to make sure they're prepared for the next storm! They're assembling their volunteer Snow Patrol, an on-call team which they can reach out to in the event that one of their group homes needs help shoveling snow or taking the necessary precautions to keep their special needs residents safe. Volunteers age 14+ are welcome, and you'll feel great as you help create a safe environment for their clients to enter and leave the home! · You can be a HERo to young girls - Girls on The Run Northern Virginia is preparing for their Spring season March 3-May 19, and they need Volunteer Coaches age 16+ to coach teams in the greater Prince William community! No experience needed; just a desire to support and encourage the next generation. Must commit to 2-3 hours a week for the season with a few additional hours required for Coach Training and the GOTR NOVA season-ending 5K celebration. Coaches receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give. · The "Power of A Knock" can help a homebound senior get nutritious meals! Meals on Wheels urgently needs volunteers to deliver meals to homebound senior citizens on weekday mornings. Volunteers must pass a criminal and driving record background check. Routes take about 1.5 hours to complete, training is provided. You'll feel great when you find out how inspiring it is to serve this vulnerable population and make their day! · Here's a New Opportunity to Volunteer in 2025: Be a Food Pick Up Driver! The SERVE campus of NVFS' Hunger Resource Center needs Food Recovery Driver Volunteers, especially on Mondays. Volunteers make routine pick-ups to rescue food from grocery stores and restaurants to help families in need. Shifts are Monday-Friday, 8am-12pm. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one shift per week for at least six months or longer. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license; must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Ride along training with experienced volunteer or staff and vehicle provided. · Your office, group or club can provide the comfort of a hot meal during the winter months! Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries' hypothermia shelter located at 14716 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge has an ongoing need for groups to prepare and drop off meals for 30 adult residents through March 30. Meals are needed each night and should be prepared off-site and dropped off at the shelter between 6:30pm-7pm. There are many openings in February and March, and you'll feel great as you provide a hot, nourishing meal for the homeless to enjoy! · If you enjoy making a difference in our community by leading financial seminars, or coaching clients, Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) has an exciting opportunity for you! They're looking for individuals with financial and banking experience to become Master Financial Educator Volunteers, supporting VCE's Financial Education program. A mandatory 6-week training course will be held February 24-March 31 which will prepare you with the current financial tools, apps, & resources to teach the VCE's courses.
