Greetings, Prince William: You can put your gardening skills to good use and help a Scout! A Girl Scout who is planting a pollinator garden at Brentsville Courthouse for her Gold Award project April 26 and 27 needs volunteers who can help with planting, weeding and constructing/putting up bird boxes. Shifts are available both days, 9am-12pm and 2pm-4:30pm. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, volunteers under 16 must volunteer with a parent. Credit for service hours will be available! Please bring your own gardening tools, shovel and gardening gloves. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to bring their own water. Be prepared for prolonged standing, crouching, kneeling and some heavy lifting. Please wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty, as well as sun protection and a hat. This is a wonderful project for garden lovers, family-friendly and will do much to spruce up the grounds at Brentsville Courthouse as well as help this Scout achieve her goal of winning the Gold Award! · Anything's PAWSible is holding their Festival & 5K April 26, 8am-5pm at the Manassas Museum Lawn, 9101 Prince William Street, Manassas 20110. Volunteers age 16+ are needed starting at 8am to help make this a successful and fun event! Volunteers under 16 are also welcome to volunteer with a parent. Help is needed for tasks such as Setup/Parking, supporting the 5K Race (Runner Check-In, Aid Station, Medal Presenters, Race Pacers - bicycle required), and supporting the Festival beginning at 11am (Moon Bounce, Glitter Tattoo Station, Floater Volunteers). Cleanup help is also needed once the event ends. It sounds like it will be a fun day in Old Town, and you'll feel great as you support this agency's mission of "making a difference in the lives of children with disabilities by assisting them in gaining access to service dogs." · Cat Lovers! The wonderful staff at Animal Allies is looking for cat-loving volunteers age 21+ who can provide foster homes for adult cats and kittens in the Woodbridge and Alexandria areas. You'll feel fantastic as you help rescue homeless kitties off the streets and help find them forever families. Fosters are helped with supplies and guidance while you help feed and love those furbabies! · Brain Injury Services (BIS) has an ongoing need for volunteers to be PALS (Providing a Link for Survivors) for brain injury survivors in the local area. Once a month outings for things such as coffee, walks, chess, lunch, etc. can help clients get their life back on track following a traumatic brain injury! They're also in need of a Volunteer Guitar Teacher for a female brain injury patient who lives in Gainesville. Just 1-2 times a month for six months for 1-2 hours can help with her recovery! · The fun staff at CRi invites you to come out and celebrate at Community Fest 2025 being held May 10, 11am-2pm at Wolf Trap, 1551 Trap Road, Vienna 22182! Volunteers age 16+ are needed for such jobs as directing parking, assisting attendees, helping with games, cleaning tables, emptying trash, cleanup, and more. T-shirts and lunch are provided! · Mark April 26 on your calendar for the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back, being held 10am-2pm! Three locations will accept your expired/unused medications: UVA Health Prince William Medical Center (8700 Sudley Road, Manassas 20110), UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center (15225 Heathcote Boulevard, Haymarket 20169) and Sentara Lake Ridge (12825 Minnieville Road, Lake Ridge 22192). · Want to help the PWC Animal Shelter clear out invasive plants from their facility? Join in the Not in my PWC Invasives Removal cleanups being held April 27, May 16, 9am-12pm each date! One more date, June 20, is time TBD. The location is PWC Animal Services Center/Shelter, 14807 Bristow Road, Manassas 20112. Help remove invasives, mainly honeysuckle and English ivy. All ages are welcome, please bring your own tools, gloves, and water. It's family friendly and a wonderful way to keep the animal shelter facility clear of invasive plants! · Northern Virginia Veterans Association is preparing for their 10th Anniversary Gala being held October 30 at Sweeney Barn in Manassas! They need volunteers to join their Gala Planning Committee to help plan and ensure a successful event. Volunteers who are well organized, detail oriented, and outgoing are especially needed.
